Birthday Balloons

This year we decided to forgo a birthday party and decided to surprise Alec with 75 balloons. Or as he calls them, Boobs.

Okay, you get the idea. There were a lot of balloons.

Happy Dance. This picture is SO Scott! He didn't get those moves from his momma!

Of course he wanted to play hoops with his balloons.

One of my all time favs.

He played in his room from 7:30 until we left for church at 10:50.

Opening his presents from Grandma Irene.

Looks like he likes his book and jacket. Thank You!

Typical.

We had friends over that night for Sunday dinner. Alec was in heaven showing all the older girls his balloons. After everyone left and way past bedtime we sang happy birthday and gave the birthday boy some ice cream.

All tuckered out. He barely mustered the energy to take a few bites.

This picture makes me laugh. We take our ice cream eating very seriously!

Heres to the TERRIFIC TWOS!

Two

Alec is two today, or in other words he is 24 months.
So here we go with 24 things that make Alec, Alec.

(as much as I love to play dress up with Alec, sometimes nothing is cuter than a good ol' onesie)

1. Athlete. He is such a stud. He plays football and basketball all day every day. He has incredible aim. Always asking to play hoops everywhere he goes.
2. Hats. Have you ever seen this kid without a hat? Me neither.
3. Social. He loves to be around other people.
4. Girls. He is already girl crazy. He especially loves the older ladies. And by older I mean 4ish year olds.
5. Slop. For the past year he has eaten the same slop for every meal.
6. Shoes. Loves to grab his shoes and sit on the stairs or his chairs while we put them on. He is starting to have a preference.
7. Blanket. His blanket can make all wrong things right.
8. Kisses. Loves to give dadda, mommy and especially baby Ava kisses.
9. The Lion King. Or as Alec says, "Sima" (Simba). For the past three months this show has been on a constant reel in our home.
10. Hercules. Occasionally "Leeeeez" was thrown in the mix.
11. Signing Times. Lately Baby Signing Times has made a comeback.
12. Sleep. 7:30 pm to 7:30 am. Heavenly!
13. Naps. Like a bear he has been going down from 12:30 to 3:30ish.
14. Busy. Always has to be doing something. If 9am rolls around and we haven't left the house yet, he stands by the door and says, "wanna go!"
15. Dessert mooch. Will not touch real food, but stands at our feet like a little baby bird chirping, "more, more, more" whenever we eat sweets.
16. Words. Has started to use his words the past couple of months. Mostly sticks to one-two word phrases.
17. Poop. Is it wrong that we think it is hilarious to watch him "hide" while he is pooping? He then comes up to us and tells us that he has "a poooooooo?"
18. Toots. He looks at us and laughs when he toots. We can't help but laugh as well. At what age is it gross and annoying? For now we think it is pretty cute.
19. Hoarder. He can have 5 graham crackers in his hand, 2 in is mouth and somehow still begs for more.
20. Clean Freak. Will not tolerate anything sticky, gooey or slimy on his hands. Loves to get his hands sanitized.
21. "I'm okay", he says sweetly while shaking his hands. This is his adorable way of saying no.
22. Laugh. So quick to laugh. Really picks up on social cues from others.
23. Balls. His favorite toy. It never gets old. I adore watching him play! We cannot wait for little leagues!
24. Confident. This little kid struts around like he owns the world.

Happy Birthday! I love, love, love you Son!

Stinkin' Cute

This phrase is perfect for our little lady.
While she is cute as can be, her gas packs quite the punch!

While Scott was away

Grammie flew to Denver to play.
Alec wanted to show Grandma his town, so paint the town red we did! First up was Monkey Bizness.
This place is awesome, we go once a week. (whenever Alec doesn't have a play date)

Next we made Scott's new favorite dish. We call it healthy Chipotle.
Recipe found here

We laid around chatting while adoring Ava.

The next day we went to the Mall where Alec acted like a little Rockstar!
People were getting a kick out of him, and he hammed it up!

He soon discovered that he got loads of attention when he wore his fedora hat over his quiksilver hat. He strutted around Nordstrom for a good hour soaking up his many admirers. (and many there were!)

Lunch at the Nordstrom Cafe. My new favorite thing is their Chicken Apple & Goat Cheese Salad. Healthy while Heavenly! Alec and Ava let us sit there for 45 minutes allowing us to really enjoy and actually taste our food, as opposed to the usual scarfing of the food whole.

Sunday we all snuggled watched Lion King for the bazillionth time and waited for Dad to come home.

Ecstatic with all the loot Daddy came home with.

Joking that Ava wasn't quite sure who Daddy was anymore.

Glad that Scott was home, but oh so sad to see Grammie leave. At least we will be flying out to California in a few days for a visit.

84.

Last weekend Scott flew out to Nashville where he received an award for being a top producer in his company. I won't mention what number achiever he was...out of 3,200.

Grand Ole Opry.

While Scott said it was nice to be recognized for his hard work, the real highlight of the trip was the bbq tour.
.

I am so grateful for such a hardworking husband that happens to love his career as a financial adviser...almost as much as he loves his role as a husband and father. (a little cheesy? maybe. but true.)
