Something is in the Water

Adore all these pregnant ladies!  We are missing four in this picture.
Two couldn't make it because they gave birth that week, and the others were busy shuttling other kids around.

Like I always say, I am gratefully miserable when pregnant, so having all these lovely ladies around to commiserate with has definitely sweetened the sour days of pregnancy!

They all make pregnancy look so good!

Boy

Swoooosh! Roooooar! Boooom! Vrooooom!
I'm more SPEEDY than you! I BEATED you!

What would we do without boys?
Maybe have a little more peace and quiet?  Nah, those things are overrated.

Siblings

The past few months Ava and Alec have been fighting non-stop!  Which has resulted in never ending shrills and shrieks from Ava.  I thought that I literally might go crazy.  And then one day...it all stopped.
Lately it has been pure heaven to see them play nicely and love each other!

Classic.  This is one of my favs.
Alec proclaiming that he's a super-hero while wild haired Ava is provoking him with her lip turned down.
Typical.

Sunbeam

We have a Sunbeam!
And he is soaking up every minute of it.  Once he arrived into primary, we agreed to buy him a little suit.  My heart melts looking at these two

Last week he gave his first talk in primary.

He nailed it!  I thought my heart was going to burst as I stood there watching him.

I couldn't help myself.  I shamelessly and indiscreetly video taped it.

In case you didn't catch all of that.

Alec's 4th Birthday

It wouldn't be a Smith birthday without...

Every now and again they get along.

This year as our alarm went off an extra 45 minutes early in order to fill up all the balloons, we almost scratched the whole balloon idea.  Look at these faces.  So glad we didn't crush his birthday dreams!

He looks so big here!

We had to scurry like mice (pun intended) to get the kids out the door to make it to his birthday party on time.
At where else but Chuck E Cheeses.

Afterwards, I took him and his cute friend Trevor to see the movie Frozen.

Back to the house to play with all his new presents and balloons.

Take his annual measurements.

And then to dinner ANYWHERE that his little heart desired.
Frozen Costco chicken nuggets from home.  Yum, yum!

Ahhhh, the life of a 4 year old.

Alec 4

I can't believe that my little man is four years old!

As of late, Alec is:

Extremely Responsible.  Once he understands a rule, he will precisely follow that rule to a tee.
Social Bug.  His favorite thing is a playdate.  Any place, any time, anywhere.
Potty-trained.  Number one AND number two.  Hallelujiah!
Strong willed.  Which has its cons, but also attributes to his following rules so devoutly.
I-pad and movies.  Will still watch tv for hours at a time.  Yes, this has happened.
Baller.  Loves playing baseball.  Can consistently hit an underhanded pitch.
Negotiator.  Instead of stealing a toy from Ava, he will convince her to take the "lesser" toy in order to give him the one he wants.  Classic Scott.
Vigilante.   Loves to take the law into his own hands.  Particularly when scolding Ava.  I think Ava gets a citizens arrest on a daily basis.
Polite.
Routine.  Loves a solid, consistent routine.  Has a hard time functioning when his expectations are not met.
Loves learning.  Soaks up group learning.
Shy, but confident.
So loveable.  If he weren't getting so big, I'd carry his sweet cheeks all over the place!

Happy 4th birthday Alec!

Famous People

While I got to eat breakfast with this Diva-Princess every morning.

Scott was in Arizona on his annual work trip hanging out with Jamie Dimon.

It's a...

                        GIRL!

We are so thrilled that this baby is joining our family.  I genuinely thought that I didn't care about having a boy or a girl.  But I am surprised at how excited and in love I am with the idea of having another girl.

Out of all of my mom's 17 grandchildren, she has never been to an ultra-sound.
So we decided to find out a little early in order for my mom to be there.

We can't wait to meet you baby girl!

Heartbreak

Scott has literally been living on cloud nine this football season!
His beloved Bronco's once again started to resemble their old glory selves back in Elway's day.
Bronco fever has swept Colorado, and Scott is relishing in every solitary second of it.

We even splurged and allowed ourselves to go to the final playoff game against the patriots.
I was Scott's last choice, but I tried to be the best football date I could be.

It truly was an amazing game.  The energy in the crowd was defining, I've never seen anything like it.
This is as happy as this guy gets.

So imagine our heartbreak during the Superbowl game blowout.  I'd say our party was a complete flop.
Scott still doesn't talk about it.  I think he is in mourning, and I swear I'm starting to see signs of PTSD.

Snow

Around here it seems as if January-May is just a blur of snow.
Its a good thing Scott has a boy to help him with all the shoveling that goes on.

I know we are not supposed to wish away our todays for our dreams of our tomorrows.
But we love when we get a glimmer of hope that one day we will be able to take our kids to do fun and active things.

Poor Alec was stuck in the middle of an upwards avalanche.

Like I said...one day it will be fun!

Ok, to give my kids a little credit.  Once we took them on an age appropriate hill, they did start to have a blast.  (hence the hope)
