Family Pictures

I absolutely love these pictures of Scott reading to Alec. We looked for the Wall Street Journal, when that was no where to be found, we thought that Think and Grow Rich would do.

These pictures we taken by the wonderful Ashley Swapp.

Alec 10 Months

This is the sweetest little face that I have ever seen!

This time I mean it when I say that this age is my favorite age! Alec may not be mobile yet, but he is a master at yoga.

Even though the Bronco's lost their fearless leader, Alec is still a fan. He has also found his voice, I love all the conversations that he has with me, and with himself.

I am OBSESSED with the back of his little neck. As a result, you will notice that the rest of the pictures in this post are featuring the back of his neck.

I just plop him in a pile of his toys and he is in seventh heaven. Especially when he has his little friends over to play.

Wishing it was warmer so that he could play outside.

Still prefers his pourage. So I just sneak different fruits, veggies and meats into it.

A Little Christmas Freebie

I never had any intentions of getting Alec's pictures taken at Kiddie Kandid, but I could not resist the free 8x10 coupon. This little guy would not stop smiling the entire session! He loved all the attention! Not bad for a freebie.

In case your were wondering. Yes, Alec is ALWAYS wearing a hat. I can't help myself, I always feel the need to accessorize him. Either with a hat or shoes...mostly both!

Alec 9 Months

By far this is my favorite age! While this month has been a struggle with Mr. Alec's health, I feel that his little personality has blossomed.

9 Month Stats: Ht 26 1/3 : Wt 14 lbs : Hc 18
This was alarming due to the fact that he weighed 15 lbs at his 6 month check up. He was placed in the failure to thrive category. I AM THE WORST MOM EVER! I could not believe it. I felt as though I fed him whenever he was hungry, and then some! We have attributed the weight loss to the 5 days that I was in the hospital, and he barely ate. None the less, our mission this month has been to fatten this boy up. It has been a success, we are feeding him oatmeal mixed with 5 scoops of formula (since he still will not take a bottle), white grape juice, and pureed beef. Yummy!!! I can barely stand the smell of this "pourage" but Alec loves it and takes this stuff down.

While we have a difficult time getting him to eat food, he has no problem eating the inedible objects in his world.
Take for example, sand.

We had a little scare the other night. Alec woke up at 9:00 screaming and looked as though he had been socked in the eye. Being new parents, what do we do? Rush him to the ER of course.

Turns out he was fine and just had a little allergic reaction.

Alec has not found a camera that he does not love...

...okay, maybe not this one...

...but most of them look like this.

He is not shy and will go to anyone. It melts my heart when he reaches out for me like this!

Nothing better than kisses from his daddy!

Splish-Splash Alec loves taking his baths.

O Christmas Tree

This year Scott and I were more excited than ever to get a Christmas tree. Why? Because we were convinced that Alec really needed one. For family night we had the brilliant idea of picking one out at night...in 20 degree weather.

Alec and I lasted about 2 minutes before we ran across the parking lot to stay warm in the Walgreens while Scott picked out the tree.

Success! I think that Alec likes it! Any advice on how to not completely spoil and cater to your children? I think that I am in trouble.

All I want for Christmas...

...is to go home and go to bed. We kept Alec up a little past his bedtime because "he" really wanted to go to the mall to see Santa. He was deliriously happy, but by the time we got to Santa he was completely glazed over.

That's my boy! You reach for that candy! You are going to be a great little helper to mommy once you can reach those Costco snack stands!

(Yes, we are total suckers and paid $20 for 2 5x7 pictures. In Hindsight: I am sure that our ward party will have a Santa Claus that will let you take all the pictures you want, for free!)
Hopefully he had dreams of sweet sugarplums that night!

the Mighty Utes vs BYU

These pictures say it all...

A Colorado Thanksgiving

This year was Alec's first Thanksgiving. Even though he has no idea what Thanksgiving is, having him around made Thanksgiving much more special to me!

We snapped a few shots before things got too crazy in the kitchen.

I was a lucky lady this year! I had all the Smith Men as company. Scott's dad Mike and his brother Josh flew in for the weekend.

Hum, I wonder where Scott learned to help around the kitchen?

Alec serenaded us with a few C, D and F# notes while the turkey was in the oven.

While Scott and Josh managed their Fantasy Football teams.

Alec got in the spirit and tried a few bites of Grandpa Mike's famous potatoes.

I am not a huge fan of the traditional Thanksgiving desserts. While we still had pumpkin and cherry pie (thanks Costco!) I made my favorite cake. I figured that if I was doing all the baking, that I would make something that I would actually eat.
Let me introduce to you the Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Cake.

It has Reeses Peanut Butter Cups in the center.

I think that I took down about 3/4 of that thing!

By the end of the night, tired and bellies full, Mike and Josh snuggled during the football games.

Three generations of handsome Smith Men!
