Princess Awake?!

Recently I made the Rookie mistake of informing Alec that we would go somewhere once the Princess was awake.
Moments later I heard giggling coming from the baby monitor.  This is what I found.

These two....

Chalk

Sidewalk chalk has become a favorite activity while Ava takes her morning naps.

We love to be outside every chance that we get.  Alec requests to eat his chicken nuggets on the deck every afternoon.

Please Don't Report Me to CPS...

...for taking pictures of Alec pooping.

Shameless!  That's what this little guy is! He can be seen all around town in this pose. On Sunday in Sacrament Meeting during the Sacrament he stood in the isle for everyone to see, braced himself on the arm rest to the pew, shamelessly squatted and grunted "Poo! Pooooooo!" while doing his business.

It was awesome.

While you were working VI...

I discovered yet another reason why our kids are the cutest things on the planet.

Watching the rainstorm together.

Lefty

It's official.  We have a lefty.  We noticed him hitting the baseball bat lefty this winter.

We just bought him little golf clubs.  Today I tried several times to show him how to swing righty, but he is insists on swinging lefty.

With form like this, who cares?

Right arm straight, front knee bent, back to the target, head down, does the kid give lessons?

With a swing like this, he will be joining us on our golf dates sooner than later.

Scott and I went golfing this morning.  Again.  For fear that I may be accused of being biased on this blog, I will mention that Scott was the winner!

Krusty

Since Alec is ALWAYS wearing a hat, I have never bothered to pay for his haircuts.  But lately he has been seen out in public without his hat on; thus exposing the hack job haircuts that he has been getting from me.

I have shamelessly been taking him around town looking like Krusty the Clown.
Today I finally broke down and took him to get his first hair cut.

He did really well.  He had to sit on my lap the entire time, but I will dub it a success.

July 4th

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!!

Scott and I started off the morning by playing golf a Plum Creek Golf Course.  I won't mention who won.
Okay, maybe I will.  Me!!!

I was on a winner's high when we got home, and was feeling a little hyper, so I suggested we pack our crap up and go to the city's town center for 4th of July Festivities.  In retrospect, Alec is a little too young cautious to enjoy all the activities.

Not too sure about the train.  He last about 5 seconds.

He was obsessed with the horses.  As long as he was in Scott's arms.

We thought for sure he would love the balloon animal booth.  He requested a horsey.

What is this thing?!  I don't blame you buddy, it looks more like a green poodle than a horse to me!
Scott and I had a theory that no matter what animal you asked for, this is what you got.

Halleluiah!  Finally a booth that he loved!

Princess Girl just chillin.

Horse drawn hay ride.  Did you know that the HOA of Highlands Ranch owns horses?  And they offer free horse rides in the back country to the residents.  Scott has always wanted to own horses...now his wildest dreams have come true!  He is part owner of a horse...split amongst the few other 100,000 residents of Highlands Ranch.

In case you didn't know how cool Alec is, here is proof.

The kids went down for naps while we hopped our fence to our neighbors for a bbq.  It was heaven!  We put the monitors on the fence and actually enjoyed our food!
Once the kids woke up, we rolled ourselves over to our friends house for another bbq.

Even though all fireworks were banned due to the fires, it still felt like the 4th of July...until about 9:30pm when there weren't any fireworks!

A Fun Visit

Ask anyone that knows my Dad and in one word they would describe him as FUN.  That being said, while he was out for a visit we had a jam packed week full of fun and food.

First stop was a Rockies baseball game.

Grandpa and Ava bonded.  She was content to just sit and snuggle with this cuddly bear for a good hour.

This family sure does love Dip-n-Dots

Clearly.

(Like Mother like Daughter.  Look at Ava in the background)

In true Alec fashion he played hard to get.  But was eventually won over by my Dad and Karen over his beloved puzzle.

Ava patiently waiting for attention.  Is this kid for real?

Thursday was Scott's 31st birthday.  We celebrated with food, food and more delicious food.  We started off the morning with brunch at the French Bakery.

We split an omelet stuffed into a baguette.  Currently one of my top 5 favorite things.
My Dad and Karen treated us at Flemings for dinner later that night.

The next morning we went golfing.  For the first time in Scott and Heidi history, Scott beat me!
Pretty good birthday gift from me, wouldn't you say? Wink, wink.

We took the kids to the Nordstrom Cafe where we ordered a couple of helpings of their sweet potato fries.  Also currently amongst my top 5 favorite things.

One of my favorite parts of their visit was Friday evening.  We decided to relax on the deck, play with the kids and barbeque.  The meal was a collaborated effort.

 Scott, the Grill-Meister.
Love that cute grin!

Karen, the Scouter of fresh fruits, veggies and meats.

 Grandpa was on Ava duty.

 Alec the Entertainer.

He made Grandpa wait three days before White Chocolate made an appearance.

Giving Ava a victory kiss after sinking a hoop.

And then there was Heidi the......I don't know, the Bubble-Blower.

Scott's burgers were delicious as always.  But the real star of the evening was the grilled corn on the cob with cilantro lime butter topped with crumbled Feta cheese.  Amazing!

I'd say this is one happy crew.  Dad's grinning, Karen couldn't wait to take another bite, Scott is saving some cilantro for later, and even Alec ate a little protein that night!

Thanks for making the trek out to Denver, Dad and Karen.  We sure enjoyed the company!
